When will the Military take Chiropractors?

How long before Chiropractors will be able to join? What function do you think they’ll serve and where. Do you think they would get an upgraded promotion to captain to begin with like Doctors and Dentists?

Active duty soldiers are eligible to receive chiropractic care, but family members are not. (I had a doctor tell me that I needed to see one, and that’s the only thing that would make me feel better, but they wouldn’t cover it. Go figure.) I read a summary of the Army Family Action Plan conference today, and they recommended that chiropractic care be covered under TriCare for dependants as well. I’m not sure how much weight their recommendation has with DoD, but hopefully they’ll at least consider it.
Until that happens, there is no reason for the military to employ chiropractors. If they decide to cover chiropractic care, they would probably start providing chiropractors at the military hospitals, but they would probably hire civilians first. Most of the doctors at the hospitals are already civilians, because they don’t have to provide the same benefits to them as to military personnel and it saves money in the long run.
